Berlin

Anyone who knows me knows that I have an interest in German history, whether it's the East and West divide or the atrocities committed by the Third Reich. The history may not be happy, but damn is it compelling. Also, the food was pretty damn good, the east side has turned into a more youth oriented subculture area. This was awesome as vegetarians because there were so many places  we could eat and so much art on the walls.

One wall in particular is the East Side Gallery, which you will see is a large chunk of the wall that has been taken over by street artists and made into an outdoor art gallery.  On the particular day we chose to go there was a large protest, which from what I could gather was in response to a hotel developer wanting to tear down a portion of the wall to build a waterfront hotel.

Also, giant beers are worth it as long as there are pretzels to soak it up.
